Broadband help and installation

It still isn't easy to setup Broadband after you've been using Dial-up or ISDN. It's even more confusing if it's your first computer. It makes you feel a little nervous doesn't it?

Don't worry, a lot of other people feel the same way and it's normal to make sure it is done right the first time. I have set up broadband for a great many people and I don't finish there. Once it's installed i'll start downloading all the updates you need and i'll install other software to make sure you're computer is as safe as possible online. No-one else can say they'll go to this much effort!

This is what we will do when I come round to set up your Broadband:

• Advise you the best way to attach the broadband modem to your phone socket.
• I will install the modem* as it should be installed (Yes, there is a correct way of doing this).
• I will run tests on your modem to make sure it is running at the correct speed.
• I will configure your email account for the new settings*
• I will download and install around 20Mb of new programmes that will keep your computer running smoothly.
• I will advise you what to do if you can't get connected.
• I will set up the windows updates, virus definitions etc to run automatically while you sleep.

* Excludes AOL.

If everything is set up correctly right from the beginning your broadband
experience will be that much better and will be trouble free that much longer!
